Hi, I'm Jean, the founder of Purac Soul. I also work as the principal consultant in Tarot & Astrology and am constantly working on improving the quality of my mind and health.
Being an entrepreneur and business owner has never been easy, as it can be a roller coaster ride filled with uncertainties. These uncertainties can lead to prolonged stress and health problems, especially as you work tirelessly to overcome them in the business world. That's because living in a high-cost city like Singapore requires financial fitness, which is closely related with mental well-being. Bad news is, maintaining consistent daily routine in the long run can be challenging but prove to be rewarding if you find an effective way to. Good news is, you can.
Resilience and consistency are the keys to success (and happiness). This means you need to learn how to:
- Consistently produce an optimum energy level to drive your business forward.
- Budget your energy effectively.
With optimal energy production, you will be at your best for your clients as well, providing advice that brings light and motivation, free from negativity and dark energies. On a personal level, I firmly believe in utilizing science-backed blueprints and methodologies to enhance wellness and navigate through life's darkest moments. My goal is to establish a presence, especially within our industry, that naturally uplifts individuals in need, whether through spoken words or silent energies. After all, energies have their own language.
Near-Death Experience
In March 2024, I faced a health crisis and an accident, in line with the predictions of my astrological chart (Tr. Pluto 9th squaring Pluto 6th). Perks of being an Astrologer is that I can get myself prepared for what's to come. Please do not speculate on this or try to pitch your opinions as the hero/heroine in my life; for health crises are nothing new to me although they hit differently at various stages of life. Now in my 40s, the last significant health issue I encountered was about 23 years ago and with another NDE in 2016. This recent crisis posed a life-threatening risk, potentially leading to a quick & sudden death. Prior to this, my body exhibited symptoms since October 2023, but my busy workload left little room for attention. This cycle persisted until the brink of a near-death experience.
I can assure you, facing death prompts a profound revelation. In those critical moments, the mind clears all trivial concerns—worries and stresses fade into insignificance. Instead, reflection takes over: Was life fulfilling? The once-pressing deliberations of 'should I?' or 'shouldn't I?' lose their significance. Afterward, a serene but deadly calmness washes over, signalling a fresh start after narrowly escaping death.
Thankfully, I was fortunate (I want to do so much more), as our household helper, who happened to wake up early at 4am+, promptly provided me with the necessary medication. By the way, here is an interesting finding base on my past near death experiences, 4am seems to be the starting hour of death.
There are benefits that I have gained from NDE. They are:
- enhanced intuition (my tarot cards will thank me for this),
- appreciation of life and lesser concerns for material gain and recognition = lesser stress, more love and compassion
Now, if you're curious about the health crisis (diagnosis) I faced, I've chosen to keep the actual details private. Unfortunately, the industry I operate in isn't always as kind and compassionate as one might assume. There are unethical practitioners who are driven by jealousy, shamelessly plagiarize ideas and experiences, and are willing to cause harm (base on your private details) to either fellow practitioners or clients (to keep them addicted). They don't need to know the full details. Therefore, it's essential to exercise caution when selecting a practitioner. Avoid those who dabble in magic or spells, employ gimmicky sales tactics, or promote fearmongering content for short-term gains or quick cash from vulnerable audiences. If they want to prove that they are practitioners with NDE too, I implore them to provide me their astrological birth details. It will reveal to me if they lie about it. Or I can use my tarot cards to check if they are a fake. Just ask me.
New Revelations - Change In Lifestyle (Astrological Pluto in 6th House)
I gather the courage to change my work hours and lifestyle, even if it means earning less, because clients are more active at night. Well, I aim to establish boundaries by working within standard office hours and let fate work its way around it.
Sustaining a 16-hour (11am to 3am) work day & owl night isn't conducive to my well-being. This decision is inspired by a big vision (Jupiter Sagittarius) of living better, having a good routine (6th house dominant) so that I am even mentally better at serving clients well, and feeling healthy and happy.
Don't get me wrong - I was already feeling happy and fulfilled when the tarot & astrology sessions benefit our clients. Instead, I like the idea of letting my naturel energy show for itself. I just need that energy to be even more empowering. A good health is required to support that. Afterall, I am a perfectionist and precision is a value to me.
To summarise, it's extremely tough for entrepreneurs (and especially single parents or a parent with an absent spouse) to stick to a consistently good-for-health routine, managing their energy and emotions with limited time. But I want to do it happily. With better habits and routines.
Here are the changes as shown in the chart below:
The Daily Blueprint
Monday - Friday | NOW | BEFORE |
Phase 1: Waking and Early Morning |
Wakes up between 5am to 6am 1st thing to do upon waking:
2nd: Workout routine, capped at <60mins
3rd: View Sunlight for 15mins Taking a walk in the neighbourhood, also as a form of cool down after my workout.
See Huberman's science-backed research on the benefits on Using Light For Health. 4th: 5 to 10 minutes of chanting I chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo back at home as a form of meditative practice (Buddhism) to further strengthen my mental well being (also scientifically proven, on how it can help change your brainwaves - refer to this book) 5th: A long shower & an application of Peppermint Essential Oil to hair scalp and inhalation
6th: Reflection & Read/Watch News for 1.5 hours while eating breakfast - usually Kopi, Milo without sugar , eggs, a bowl of noodles
Ends before 10am. |
My mornings start at 9 am and they are sluggish, typically requiring at least three cups of caffeine to kickstart my day. My motivation levels are low, and I don't engage in morning exercise routines.
No supplements, only plenty of water.
My lower back often feel aching, overall mobility feels restricted.
|
Phase 2: Midday Through Evening |
Usually starts at 11.30am 1st: Early Lunch Habits
2nd: Work begins, with tea & lots of water 3rd: In between work, I go out for a quick walk to get some sunlight in but I will typically avoid 12pm to 2.30pm sunlight, accompanied by:
|
My days often feel erratic, just going with the flow despite having a fixed list of tasks for both work and personal life. I find myself slipping into sleepy mode and having irregular lunch hours, sometimes even forgetting to eat altogether.
Often sick. Since October 2023, I have been ill every week down with flu, sore throat or coughs. |
Phase 3: Bedtime and Sleeping |
1) Workout Routine: After work, I straightaway jog to the gym (a warmup run) nearby my home while basking in the evening sunset. Find a gym that's nearest to your office / home as it encourages your routine to be consistent. *I do double trainings (morning + evenings) 2 days a week & single training (morning) 4 days a week. *Sunday - no sport training 2) Light Dinner before 7pm nearby the gym - I typically avoid fried & junk food. - Half portions 3) Time for bed: I prefer to stretch my body muscles before bedtime while playing *science-backed Binaural beats sleep music using:
Sleep by 12am *The above routine works well for a good quality sleep. I have always been an advocate for sleep quality and have tested a variety of methods and the above is the best for me so far.
|
My evening workout routine typically begins around 11 pm. I've long considered myself an evening exerciser, believing it helps me sleep better. While it does contribute to restful sleep, I find that the morning grumpiness persists with bloating & inflammation felt around my legs, abdominal and fingers. My dinner schedule varies depending on my workload, leading to irregular meal times. Similarly, client appointments are often scheduled at unconventional hours, also due to my international clientele. As a result, I usually retire for the night around 3 am. |
Do you get the drift now? Ever since I started the new routine, my daily mood shifted to a consistently positive, sense of well being uplifted, more energised (consistently), naturally brighter looking skin, experiencing more focus & alert, and my body posture straightened. The turning point is the time I wake up.
It is a new routine, so I shall observe the progress over the next 3 months. I am not sure how consistent I can be, given the life of running a small business but I aim for at least 80% consistency. Nevertheless, I have been feeling at my optimum. The song that describes the way I feel now is this:

My Approach
Trust In The Process
Indeed, placing trust in the process alleviates the burden of overthinking, such as pondering "what if it doesn't work?" or "what if this or that happens." Overthinking creates barriers to action, hindering progress along the path to greatness that you've charted. My sports coach, a former National Coach who guided the SG team to their podium finish in the SEA Games, imparted this wisdom to me. Through personal experience, I've witnessed the tangible outcomes that arise from trusting the process. Hence, I shall trust the process that I have set up for myself.
Take note, the keyword is 'Consistency'.
Therefore, trusting the process entails exercising patience and consistently adhering to the plan. And by the way, adhering to a plan is no easy feat too but it's all in your mind.
In the coming future, I do see myself constantly refining my routines until they reach their optimal state and feel like second nature to me. And slowly incorporate additional productivity boosting techniques by Andrew Huberman as I go along. One step at a time.
In conclusion, a NDE is a positive life changing event and it benefits the job that I do. It does feel fateful because it is a close brush with death.
We trust that you'll find these science-backed guide and protocols enlightening and beneficial. With confidence, we believe that the strategies shared in this guide will enhance your productivity and elevate both your physical and mental well-being.
